Phil grew up in the North West of England and has an accomplished management career. He has just celebrated having spent 30 years in the corporate environment including several roles in international management as well as spending two years as Commercial Director for a small private software company.
He focuses on the development of people in organisations and the relationship between productivity and employee wellbeing and engagement. His interests lie in working with individuals and business leaders that want to develop wellbeing and engagement to stimulate sustainability and growth.
As a consultant, Phil is an accomplished problem solver and project manager of several successful change projects. His physical sciences background make him an objective analytical thinker and his natural creativity combine to make him a valuable member of any change team. His psychology training and communications skills developed through his NLP qualifications make him an asset to any change project requiring the moving of hearts and minds and the cooperation of employees.
As a coach, trainer and facilitator Phil has a down to earth, genuine and unpretentious manner. He is a great listener and challenges where appropriate giving individuals the space to consider all options before moving forward and committing to goals and actions. Phil’s sessions are encouraging and supportive and ensure that individuals move forward in the direction that they want to. He balances a questioning approach to transferring knowledge with offers of genuine insight which help individuals to structure their thoughts and their work more effectively and progress quickly so that they can change and achieve more out of their business and personal lives.
Phil is an Organisational Psychologist, an internationally certified Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Trainer qualified to train to Master Practitioner level, a licensed Myers Briggs Practitioner and a qualified Coach who has also trained as a Corporate Master Coach. He is a Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has an Advanced Diploma (distinction) in Coaching, a degree in Pure and Applied Chemistry and a Doctorate in Philosophy from Liverpool University and in 2009 completed a Masters degree in Organisational Psychology from Manchester Business School. He has been leading change as a manager, consultant, trainer and coach in a range of business contexts since 1990.
In his management career, in particular within Unilever, he held senior European Supply Chain roles and was involved in corporate strategy development for both the Quality Assurance function and the outsourcing of European manufacturing. Prior to this he led large teams in Research, Production, and Engineering Project Management roles before becoming Quality Assurance Leader of a €1.6bn European Business Group which sourced products from 8 manufacturing sites and supplied customers in 17 countries. Throughout these roles Phil led senior level audits and supplier assessments of over 70 organisations across UK and Europe that focussed on assessing effective business leadership and management practices. These experiences led him into his current line of work and he has always been actively involved in promoting business performance through employee involvement and engagement.
